BUEC 211: Business Economics, Organization, and Management
Undergraduate course, Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta, 2026
Sections B03/B04, Winter 2026
This course provides a thorough training in the foundations of microeconomics, with applications to the strategic management of organizations. Rather than solving abstract problems, the emphasis is on using economic reasoning to become a better decision maker on the job: students work with formal economic models, and then think critically beyond them to draw real-world conclusions. Topics include supply, demand, and market equilibrium; consumer choice; producer behaviour, cost minimization, and cost functions; and industrial organization (monopoly, oligopoly, and product pricing).
