RMURE Conference
The inaugural Rocky Mountain Urban and Real Estate (RMURE) Conference was a huge success.
Held June 5–7, 2026 at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Banff, Alberta, RMURE brought together scholars working in urban and real estate economics for three days of research and discussion. The program featured fifteen papers across six sessions — housing supply and affordability, real estate markets and finance, sorting and agglomeration in cities, housing and urban structure, spatial equilibrium and the environment, and commercial real estate — along with a keynote address by Nathaniel Baum-Snow (University of Toronto) on housing affordability and the mobility of renters.
The conference is organized by Jay Hyun, James Macek, and Nathan Schiff, and hosted by the Department of Marketing, Business Economics and Law at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Alberta School of Business, the U of A Cities Institute, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
